Coraline

3DA
Coraline was one of the first major 21st century animations to be shot in 3D. The 3D seems to have been purposefully utilized in a particular way. In Coraline's hum drum world, a flatter 3D effect is used as if to convey the dullness of her life. As soon as she enters the tunnel (and a passage to the other world) the 3D effect opens up and looks great. Compared to the latest 3D Animations, Coraline may have lost some of it's initial 3D impact, but it still stands up as a fine example of 3D animation. The film itself is quirky, surreal and highly enjoyable.(V)  Buy at Play.com
